Keir Mather, Government transport minister responsible for decarbonisation of transport and electric vehicles, has confirmed the Plug-in Truck Grant will be extended beyond the current funding deadline of the end of March 2026.
Speaking at the BVRLA’s recent Van Plan parliamentary reception, the Minister said the funding levels for the period beyond this financial year will be announced in the coming weeks.
According to DfT representatives present at the BVRLA event, the new funding levels are currently going through the Government’s spending review, although indications are the grant levels will be less than the current rates which offer grants of up to £120,000 off the upfront cost of a vehicle over 12t GVW (capped at 40% of the price). Industry sources expect the funding levels to be announced at the forthcoming ZEHID Progress Summit on 17 March.
