Knowles Logistics has added another electric HGV to its fleet, this time a 19-tonne Renault E-tech D18.

An early adopter of electric fleet vehicles in the UK, the Fenland haulier now operates five fully electric lorries.

“As a business deeply committed to sustainability, we are proud to be leading the charge in decarbonising the logistics industry,” said Alex Knowles, MD at Knowles Logistics.

“The introduction of our new Renault 19-tonne electric vehicle marks another milestone in our journey toward net zero, reinforcing our mission to provide customers with sustainable and future-ready transport solutions.”

The haulier said the lorry played a crucial role in reducing its environmental footprint while addressing the increasing demand for green logistics solutions.

Knowles Logistics said transitioning to electric vehicles not only lowers emissions but also reduces noise pollution and operational costs.

The E-tech D18 is powered by a 265kWh lithium-ion battery and it has a range of up to 180km.

The 19-tonne gvw is permitted under UK regulatory dispensation for electric vehicles, allowing the 18-tonne base model to operate at an increased weight to account for battery mass.

The company has committed to reducing its carbon footprint by half by 2035 by transitioning the full fleet to low-carbon alternatives and achieving net-zero carbon emissions from all warehouses and offices using electricity from 100% renewable energy sources.
