Warburtons has taken on the first of seven Yutong TE7 7.5-tonne electric trucks, which will commence delivering fresh bakery products to stores across Yorkshire.

It follows a trial of the TE7 from Pelican Electric Trucks and represents the next stage in Warburtons programme to reduce emissions from its transport operations.

It chose the 132kWh battery version, which provides a range of up to 180 miles.

Steven Gray, head of transport at Warburtons, said: “We are delighted to see the first of our Yutong TE7 trucks arrive and to begin putting it to work.

“We have worked closely with the team at Pelican throughout the trial process, and the vehicle has demonstrated that electric can be a practical solution for our operational requirements.”

Alongside its fleet of CNG tractors, Warburtons’ BEV fleet is helping decarbonise transport operations and contributing to its wider business strategy.

David Watts, Pelican Electric Truck sales manager added: “It’s fantastic to see the first TE7 delivered to Warburtons following the successful trial earlier this year.

“The 7.5t sector is ideally suited to electrification, particularly for the urban and regional delivery work these vehicles undertake.”
