Knowles Transport is forging ahead with its ambitions for sustainability after taking on 60 electric forklift trucks to operate across its network.
The investment means 90 of its 103-strong fleet of forklifts – or 87% – are now fully electric.
The new vehicles include double handlers, counterbalance trucks, Flexi trucks and Aisle Masters and they have been sourced via a three-year lease agreement with Impact Handling and are built by CAT and Toyota.
The company said that by replacing gas-powered trucks with electric models, it was achieving an annual carbon saving of 460 tonnes of CO₂ emissions.

Alex Knowles, Knowles MD, said: “This investment is about more than operational efficiency — it’s about doing what’s right for the environment.
“We’re proud to be taking real, measurable steps towards greener operations. These forklifts not only reduce emissions but improve our day-to-day handling efficiency.”
He added: “The long-term goal is to operate a fully electric fleet across all applicable sites.
“We’re approaching this transition strategically and with confidence, and the early results are incredibly encouraging – not just for carbon savings, but for improved performance and reduced maintenance costs as well.”
