Electric vehicle (EV) charging management platform AMPECO told FCZ exclusively that it is actively exploring dedicated charging hubs for eHGVs.

AMPECO, which offers a white-label and hardware-agnostic EV platform, says it enables large-scale EV charging providers to launch and scale their business operations under their own brands. It was recently announced as platform provider for UK-based charge point operator (CPO) Zapgo, for its roll-out programme in the UK.

The Zapgo rollout is focused on car and van charging. However, Giles Kinnersley, business development director UKI at AMPECO, told FCZ: “We fully support the transition to zero-emission freight and recognise the critical importance of providing future-proof and flexible software to enable the delivery of reliable charging infrastructure for eHGVs and other heavy vehicles”.

He added, “We’re actively exploring opportunities to support the development of dedicated charging hubs that meet the specific needs of this sector and are working closely with industry partners to ensure our plans align with the operational realities of HGV fleets.”

Zapgo’s fully funded ‘Zero cost, Zero effort, Zero risk’ model allows property owners to offer EV charging as an additional amenity with no capital investment while generating revenue for property owners from every charging session. The company’s first site at Cartmel Racecourse in Cumbria is scheduled to launch imminently, with nationwide expansion planned.
