Supermarket Lidl has invited heavy duty truck users to “charge your electric trucks with us using 100% green energy” at its sites in the Netherlands.

The company said on its Dutch website, “ We are opening our charging stations so that together we can accelerate the transition to sustainable transport. At our distribution centres we have fast charging stations with sufficient power capacity for charging electric trucks. We offer a fixed rate without additional costs, so you are always assured of a sustainable and reliable charging option.”

The company offers six locations: Heerenveen, Oosterhout, Almere and Weert have DC chargers that are already in operation, according to the website, while Waddinxveen and Etten-Leur are under construction. All have 350kV fast chargers. Power is available 24/7 at a fixed rate with “no surprises” and the company says trailers can be accommodated.

Lidl invites truck operators who want to charge at its sites to complete a no-obligation registration form. Lidl and the user will jointly agree a time slot for the trucks to charge.
