German food transport firm Rigterink is relying on an AI-built planning tool to forge its transition to sustainable logistics.
The family-run company, which operates a fleet of more than 400 lorries, is using Pathfinder, developed by Scania subsidiary LOTS Group, which helps businesses analyse transport flows, identify suitable routes for electrification and build transition plans.
Rigterink said it wanted to keep full control of its electrification plans rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all solution and Pathfinder allowed it to do this by using data based on shipment patterns, battery capacity and charging availability, while evaluating different scenarios through a repeatable in-house workflow.
It added that the software was helping the company generate concrete route maps, volumes, deployment phases and quantified impacts, which was supporting fact-based discussions with shippers.
LOTS Group MD Johan Palmqvist said: “This collaboration marks an important step in turning electrification ambitions into actionable, data-driven plans for large transport network.”
