While much of the industry conversation around HGV decarbonisation and electrification has focused on large trucks (18 tonnes and above), Pelican argues that the 7.5 tonne sector is much more accessible and straightforward to electrify and presents an immediate opportunity for meaningful decarbonisation progress.
With higher vehicle costs, bigger batteries, and the need for expensive high power charging infrastructure, larger HGVs face significant operational, financial and infrastructure challenges to electrify.
