Dutch operator Simon Loos is expanding its electric truck fleet to 210 vehicles, adding another 75 Mercedes-Benz eActros 600s after saying the first batch had met expectations.

This makes Simon Loos the operator of the largest electric truck fleet in the Netherlands and one of the largest in Europe. The new vehicles will be used mainly in retail distribution, with some three-axle trucks intended for network transport and beverage logistics.

The order will take the number of eActros 600s in the Simon Loos fleet to 150 by the end of 2026. Around two-thirds of the first 75-unit order had already been delivered by the time the second batch was announced, with deliveries of the additional trucks due to begin once the remaining vehicles from the first tranche have entered service.

Back in 2024, the majority of the first 75 eActros 600 trucks were intended for supplying retail companies and were to be charged at customers’ premises. Before moving to the newer model, Simon Loos had already been operating Mercedes eActros 300 trucks on routes of up to 300 km.

The first two eActros 600 units delivered to the operator entered service in July 2025 on Lidl retail distribution work in the Netherlands. The newer truck extended the company’s electric operating range to journeys of up to 500 km.

The company began testing the eActros 600 in summer 2024. A near-series prototype covered around 25,000 km between suppliers and Albert Heijn’s regional and national distribution centres before the first order was placed. Fleet manager Wim Roks said the move from the eActros 300 to the eActros 600 increased the planning range from around 250–300 km to 500 km.

In the latest announcement, Roks said the first batch had “met all expectations” and added that Simon Loos wanted to “keep moving forward”. Daimler Truck Nederland CEO Eric Brok said Simon Loos had also been the first operator in Europe to put the series-produced eActros 300 into service in late 2021.

Simon Loos says it began operating electric vehicles in 2014 and expects to have 150 eActros 600 trucks in regular distribution service by the end of this year.
