Bio-LNG producer Pretoria Roadgas is offering hauliers of all sizes a pay-per-mile bio-LNG truck deal, in what it claims is a UK first.

Operators signing up to the Bio-Truck package are provided with Volvo’s Aero Bio-LNG trucks, complete maintenance and their renewable fuel supply, wrapped into a pence-per-mile model.

The Capex-free package, aimed at both small HGV operators and national fleets, also includes servicing by Volvo’s network to the manufacturer’s Gold standard, to ensure maximum uptime, safety and reliability.

The Bio-Truck deal can range between 5, 6, or 7 years, giving operators the flexibility to choose a contract that best serves their operational strategy and fleet renewal cycle.

The market adoption of LNG is increasing by 15-17% year-on-year, thanks to its ability to deliver over 80% CO2 reduction and a 10-25% fuel saving compared to diesel, at a time when operators are facing escalating fuel prices and tightening margins.

The Volvo FH460 Aero Bio-LNG is designed for long-haul. Its 460hp engine delivers up to 2500Nm of torque, matching diesel capability across a range of demanding operations.

Pretoria Roadgas claims that with the right LNG tank configuration, operators can achieve up to 1000km range.

Announcing the launch, the company said: “With the Pretoria Roadgas support framework, Bio-Truck operators have complete assurance in the reliability, performance and long-term durability of their Bio-LNG fleet.”

Pretoria Roadgas is a joint venture between Pretoria Energy, a Cambridge-based biogas producer, and Roadgas, which specialises in refueling infrastructure.

The partnership designs, builds, and operates, CNG, LNG, and hydrogen refueling stations and has plans to power over 2,500 gas-fuelled trucks annually in the UK by 2028.
