DAF dealers Motus and Ford & Slater are partnering with charging network specialist Paua to deliver 16 new shared depot charging locations for electric trucks across the UK.
The two DAF dealers are making the 16 sites accessible to commercial fleets via Paua Share, a commercial platform that connects private EV depot owners with commercial fleets to share high-powered charging infrastructure,.
All 16 sites will be open to rigid and articulated trucks from any manufacturer, in a move aimed at expanding the available charging network for electric trucks across the UK.
Both Motus and Ford & Slater already play a key role in the UK’s wider transition to electric freight, supplying 20% of the electric trucks in the UK’s ZEHID programme.
Announcing the partnership Paua said the deal highlights the growing importance of shared depot charging as fleets seek practical, reliable charging options beyond their own infrastructure.
“Shared depots help extend network coverage, improve charger utilisation and support more efficient route planning for commercial vehicles” the company added.
The integrations have been delivered through close collaboration across multiple partners. Motus has worked with Envevo to install the chargers, while Ford & Slater has worked with EO to install the chargers. Paua has then integrated both partners into its platform, enabling fleets to access depot infrastructure using Paua’s EV charging payment and depot sharing capability.
Charging access remains one of the key challenges for fleets electrifying heavy vehicles. While public charging for cars and vans has grown rapidly, infrastructure specifically designed for large commercial vehicles is still emerging.
Truck charging requires more power, more space and different site layouts than passenger EV charging, making depot-based infrastructure especially important.
Shared depot charging provides a practical solution by opening existing private infrastructure to trusted fleet partners. This approach increases utilisation of installed chargers while helping fleets access more locations to charge.
Paua said its broader truck and depot sharing strategy is built around this model, extending access to commercial vehicle charging through both public and shared-private infrastructure.
John Jesson, Motus EV and connected services manager, said: “We are delighted to partner with Paua to make our charging infrastructure accessibleto a wider group of fleet operators.
“As more businesses transition to electrictrucks, enabling shared access to depot charging will help fleets operate withgreater confidence and flexibility.”
Josh Spencer, Ford and Slater EV sales manager, added: “We are pleased to be workingwith Paua to open up depot charging access for fleets.
“As a leading DAF Trucks dealer, we are proud to be supporting the growth of electric truck adoption inthe UK, including through our contribution to the ZEHID programme.”
Niall Riddell, Paua chief executive and founder, commented: “Motus and Ford & Slater joining Paua Share is a strong example of the industry working together to accelerate electric truck adoption.
“Depot charging is a critical part of the ecosystem. By opening trusted depot infrastructure to other fleets, we can rapidly extend the usable charging network for electric trucks across the UK.”
