Finnish manufacturer Kempower has demonstrated a megawatt charging system (MCS) session exceeding one megawatt in Denmark for the first time.

Fresh from its successful MCS Live Winter Days event in Sweden, where it showed megawatt charging was possible for three electric HGVs built by Volvo, MAN and Scania, Kempower travelled to its Scandinavian neighbour to show off its MCS technology.

The country’s first ever MCS charging session exceeded 1MW as a Mercedes E-Actros 600 electric truck reached a maximum charging power of 1021kW.

“This great achievement is one more proof of the increasing maturity of MCS technology as we lay the groundwork for the next generation of electric heavy-duty vehicles,” the company said.

“MCS is live and here to stay.”

Kempower’s chargers have now delivered thousands of MCS sessions and tens of megawatt-hours of energy, with public sites operating in every Nordic country as well as in the UK, where one of the most high-profile examples of megawatt charging is at DP World’s site, which houses 12 MCS chargers alongside eight CCS units.
