Milence is ending its pan-European pricing model and from 1 January will move to a “market-based” platform. The group has a single charging hub in the UK, at Immingham, and it will be at the group’s most expensive price point.

In practice, the pan-European tariff was “different in countries that have a currency other than Euro” the company said, and the UK tariff was different from the pan-European tariff, being charged at £0.399/kWh (around €0.45) instead of €0.399/kWh. Some EU countries will see a price reduction but the change leaves the UK in the most expensive price band.

The company said that from the outset, its competitive pan-European rate was intended “to accelerate early market adoption”. It said market-based, country-specific pricing was “A logical next step,” that “reflects variations in local energy costs, taxes and grid fees, aligns with EU policy and industry best practice, and ensures fair, transparent and sustainable pricing across all markets”.

The company’s Euro-based price was previously €0.399/kWh (excluding VAT). The new pricing structure means there will be a decrease in some markets: in France and Spain the new base tariff will be €0.339 /kWh (ex-VAT). Belgium will also see a slight fall to €0.379/kWh. Sweden and Denmark, which are outside the Euro zone, may also see a slight reduction, depending on conversion rates (see table below). Roel Vissers, chief commercial officer at Milence said: “Our competitive pricing model reflects real market conditions, supports early movers, and creates the right enabling environment.”

Milence, a joint venture between Daimler Truck, the Traton Group and the Volvo Group, now operates 30 public charging hubs across eight European countries. Ten in France connect major logistics routes, linking the ports of Le Havre, Dunkirk, and Calais with Paris, Belgium, and Germany, and connecting Barcelona to Lyon. Each hub includes 24-hour high-power charging and secure driver facilities.

Milence said it “remains committed to building one of Europe’s largest public charging network for electric heavy-duty vehicles”, offering Megawatt Charging System (MCS) chargers, as are operational at Port of Antwerp-Bruges, Zwolle and Landvetter. Its goal is to deploy high-performance charging points along all major TEN-T corridors across Europe.
