Yusen Logistics said it was in the process of acquiring the healthcare logistics business Walden Group through the purchase of the entire share capital of Movianto International.

Once the c.€1.25bn (c.£1.08bn) deal goes through, Yusen said Movianto would become a subsidiary, subject to regulatory clearances.

The healthcare logistics business of the Walden Group includes Movianto, Eurotranspharma, Transpharma International and Walden Digital.

Specialising in the healthcare industry, the business provides contract logistics, 4PL, first mile transportation and distribution services from 138 locations in 12 countries throughout Europe.

Walden Digital has developed technological solutions including an end-to-end supply chain visibility platform, supporting and leveraging the group’s logistics and temperature-controlled work.

Yusen Logistics Group said it had positioned healthcare logistics as a key growth area and had been strengthening its capabilities in medical and pharmaceutical logistics globally through its group companies.

It added that the acquisition would dramatically increase the scale of its healthcare logistics in Europe.
