The Woodland Group - parent company to Woodland Logistics - has signed a three year contract with automotive aftermarket supplier Comma Oil and Chemicals.
The new deal will see the Essex-based freight forwarder and haulier move approximately 10 million litres of lubricants, chemicals and ancillaries for Comma annually transporting them mainly from its UK manufacturing site to Scandinavia, the Baltic region and Eastern Europe.
While the Woodland Group has prior experience in chemical transportation, this is the first deal with a large chemical company in which it is the sole supplier.
Iain Rowlands, Woodland Group national project manager, said: “In terms of competition, they went out to a number of potential suppliers. What pushed Comma to choose Woodland was our willingness to listen to them and deliver the IT and reporting structure that they needed to enable them to gain clarity and visibility of their international distribution costs.”
He added: “The products are, in the main, low level Hazmat products. However, there is a small volume of fully hazardous consignments that require full Hazmat handling and security.”
