Plumbing and heating products supplier Wolseley is launching a year-long apprenticeship scheme for aspiring HGV drivers at two of its DCs.

The scheme is being delivered in partnership with Telford College and offers a training package worth £7,000 comprising both classroom-based and on the road training, including technical training, maths and English.

Successful drivers will receive their Level 2 apprenticeship in Driving Goods Vehicles, a category C+E licence, a forklift licence and their Driver CPC at the end of the scheme.

The operator is also training its 123 existing drivers during working hours, offering them the opportunity to acquire their Level 2 certificate in Driving Goods Vehicles.

Joanne Smith, Wolseley UK’s HR director, said: “Wolseley UK aims to be the employer of choice in its industry and in order to attract and retain the best talent we’ve made sure that we offer innovative, exciting and industry-leading career opportunities.”
