Product Overview

​DAF XB series: a new development for zero-emission city distribution. Battery electric versions are available in 12, 16, and 19 tonnes gross vehicle weight versions. With a range of up to 350 kilometres, the DAF XB replaces the LF in the DAF line-up. The range features various cab options, including Day, Extended Day, and Sleeper Cabs.

​The DAF XB series has a single-entry step design into the cab and good direct vision from behind the wheel to enhance safety for both the driver and vulnerable road users. While the truck uses the same cab design as in the outgoing model, the interior is given a makeover with the inclusion of a customisable digital display.

Technical Briefing

​The new truck, which will go into production in Q4 2023 is equipped with an e-motor offering nominal power in 120 or 190kW ratings and a nominal torque rating of 950 and 1,850Nm respectively (2,600 and 3,500Nm peak performance). To minimise environmental impact and offer the highest durability, DAF is deploying a cobalt and magnesium-free, lithium iron phosphate (LFP – Lithium Ferro Phosphate) high energy density battery pack with a gross energy content of 141 up to 282kWh. These allow XB Electric ranges of up to 350km on a single charge, says the manufacturer.

​A special feature of the new DAF XB Electric is the deployment of the CCS (Combined Charging System) connection. This allows the truck to be charged through the regular electricity network for home charging, while rapid charging the batteries (650V DC, 150kW) from 20% to 80% will only take 40 to 70 minutes, depending on the specification.
