T.W Plummer reports "huge fuel savings" from new Volvo FH

Burgess Hill-based haulier T.W Plummer has taken delivery of a new Volvo FH 500 6x2 tractor unit with I-Shift, having recorded “huge fuel savings” with an identical truck.

The third-generation family-run company runs an exclusive Volvo fleet and it said it switched from a 540hp engine to the fuel-efficient FH with I-Save system after discussions with MC Truck & Bus.

“We’ve monitored the fuel returns closely via Volvo Connect and we’ve been averaging around 9.5mpg over the past 12 months with the first turbo compound truck, which we were really pleased with,” said Jonathan Walker, T.W Plummer owner.

“Over the course of a year, that adds up to huge savings for our business.”
