The Russell Group has appointed David Paterson to be its new CEO, replacing Alan Poulton who will step down from his role after more than 15 years’ service.
It said Paterson, who has served as MD of Carntyne Transport since 2010, brought “a wealth of experience” to his new position and in his expanded role he would oversee all activities within the Russell Group, including John G Russell (Transport), Russell RailRoad and Carntyne Transport.
The leadership change follows a phased retirement of Poulton, who will relinquish the role on 29 March.
Paterson said: “It is a privilege to step into this role and lead the Russell Group.
“I look forward to building on our strong partnerships and ensuring we continue to provide exceptional service and sustainable innovative solutions to our valued customers.”
Russell Group chairman John G Russell added: “David’s leadership at Carntyne has been outstanding and I am confident he will bring the same vision and energy to the Russell Group as a whole.
“His expertise and commitment to our customers make him the perfect choice to lead us into the future.”
