The new truck was handed over to Dan by Volvo’s director of new vehicle sales, Hannah Burgess

The AA presented a brand new Volvo FL with an ‘AA 3’ registration plate to its Recovery Patrol of the Year winner – Dan Tyrell at its Guilford depot.

Supplied as part of a 118-strong FL recovery truck order, the winning vehicle was presented to Tyrell at a Warwick awards ceremony.

The AA said he saw off challenges from 440 other recovery patrols to earn the title and take home the keys to the new Volvo following an extensive evaluation process.

For the next 12 months, Tyrell will travel the UK as the public face of the AA and appear at events such as the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the EV Rally 2023.

He said: “I’m absolutely blown away by it all.

“I love my job, and now I get to do it in a brand-new Volvo carrying a registration plate which is going to attract a lot of attention!

“I’m looking forward to putting the FL through its paces supporting our members, and to be highlighting what we do at some of the biggest events in the calendar!”

The total order from Volvo Truck and Bus Centre South & East will replace older assets at the AA previously supplied by a rival marque.
