Palletways has struck a major logistics support deal with Rochford Garden Machinery. The pallet network will deliver goods on behalf of the garden machinery distributor to garden centres and retailers across the country.
Under the contract Lichfield-based Palletways will handle all pallets for the garden machinery firm, including garden tractors which form a substantial part of the business.
Steve Waterhouse, Palletways UK business development director, said the pallet network will provide customer service support whilst Palletways member Just Vans, will undertake operational responsibility for collecting freight from Rochford’s site in Wincanton, Somerset and delivering it into Palletways’ Greenford and Lichfield hubs.
Waterhouse added: “This contract win demonstrates the power of our network and shows that by working closely with our members, we can win sizeable new accounts.”
Martin Haselup, Rochford Garden Machinery trade sales office manager, said: “We have been working with Palletways and Just Vans for a couple of months now and are really impressed with the dual arrangement we have in place.
Haselup said Palletways Digital Information Hub was also pivotal in winning Palletways the contract. The hub was launched by Palletways earlier this year with the aim of streamlining business processes, improving communication and making traffic planning and vehicle use more efficient.
Haselup said: “Palletways’ Digital Information Hub is the icing on the cake as its increased visibility will help enhance our own performance and processes.”
