Palletline has launched a £2m scanning system for its forklift truck fleet, which it said would eliminate inaccurate scans and speed up its freight sortation process.

Palleteyes has been designed to scan barcodes within two metres of a pallet and display information such as bay location for the driver.

At the same time, CCTV cameras record close-up and wide angle videos of the pallet’s journey from unload to bay to reload, which Palletline said offered customers full visibility of their freight via a cloud-based portal.

The system also weighs each load and sounds an alarm to prevent drivers attempting to lift a pallet weighing more than 400kg above a height of 1.2m.

Graham Leitch, Group MD at Palletline, said: “The launch of Palleteyes makes us unique in our sector, providing members with higher levels of freight visibility than ever before.

“It also underlines our long-term commitment to the development of innovative technologies that not only improve the efficiency of our own operation and enhance customer experience but set the standard across the palletised freight industry.”
