Pall-Ex will open a hub operation in Bulgaria by the middle of next year, the pallet network has said.

The European palletised freight specialist will commence operations in Bulgaria by mid 2016 through a partnership with Econt.

Econt operates more than 40% of the parcel market in Bulgaria via 14 logistics centres, and also works across Greece and Romania.

Pall-Ex is seeking further partnerships in Germany, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Scandinavia as part of its expansion strategy in Europe.

The new network will launch with 18 members and will cover all territories with next day delivery as standard. The central hub will be based in Plovdiv in Bulgaria.

Econt MD Pavel Penchev said: “The new partnership is an exciting opportunity as it allows us to not only be market leaders, but also innovators by bringing a new form of palletised distribution to Bulgaria.”

Anand Assi, project director at Pall-Ex Group, said: “Pavel and his team have unrivalled knowledge of the domestic logistics market, so we are confident that our model will offer mutual benefits to Bulgarian hauliers and their customers."

Pall-Ex Group's combined network now spans the UK, Spain, Portugal, Romania, Italy and France.

In September Pall-Ex said it would set up a Benelux network in 2016.
