Daimler Truck subsidiary FUSO has unveiled tipper versions of its Next Generation eCanter at the giant BAUMA 2022 construction exhibition in Germany.

Previously only available as a 7.49-tonner with a wheelbase of 3,400 millimetres, the new vehicle now comes with a choice of six wheelbases ranging from 2,500 to 4,750 millimetres and a permitted gross weight of 4.25 to 8.55 tonnes. The chassis has a load capability of more than 5 tonnes. The Next Generation eCanter is driven by a 110 kW (variants with gross weights of 4.25 and 6 tonnes) or 129 kW (variants with gross weights of 7.49 and 8.55 tonnes) electric motor with an improved driveline and 430 Nm of torque, with a top speed of 89 km/h.

Three battery packs are offered, depending on the wheelbase: S, M, and L. The lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cell technology is used in the batteries. These are distinguished primarily by a longer service life and more useful energy. The S variant’s battery pack has a nominal capacity of 41 kWh and a range of up to 70 kilometres. The nominal capacity of the M version is 83 kWh, and the range is up to 140 kilometres. The most powerful package, the L, has a nominal capacity of 124 kWh and a range of up to 200 kilometres.

“With our Next Generation eCanter, shown for the first time with a roll-off tipper, we are underlining that the advantages of the FUSO Canter for the construction industry are also fully reflected in the electrified variant. Thanks to their robustness and variability, the Next Generation eCanter and the new FUSO Canter are ideally suited for the construction industry. Together with our body partners, we can realise a wide variety of applications in both vehicles.” said Philipp Panter, Head of Sales, Marketing & Customer Service at FUSO Europe.
