Middlesbrough’s largest courier and storage company, Rapid Response Transport UK, is in administration.

The company, which had been trading for over 20 years and offered sameday, overnight, refrigeration and European deliveries, appointed insolvency experts at Northpoint Associates on 6 June.

It held an international operator licence authorising 30 HGVs and 15 trailers running out of three bases in Middlesbrough and Stockton-on-Tees.

Its website said the main service it provided to customers was urgent sameday deliveries: “If you request this service then a vehicle and driver will be dispatched to deliver and collect your consignment and that vehicle will be dedicated to only you,” it said.

“There will be no other collections or deliveries made with that vehicle, ensuring that your consignment gets from A to B without any problems. This service is available with all of our vehicles.”

Its website added that it operated around 60 vehicles in total, including a range of vans, pick-ups and 7.5-tonne curtainsiders, as well as chiller and freezer wagons.

Its last available set of accounts, for the year ending 28 February 2023, showed that it employed 50 staff, down from 70 in 2022.

Northpoint Associates had not responded as we went to press.
