Menzies to recyle HGV curtains into bags as sustainability drive continues

Menzies Distributon is set to convert the PVC side curtains from its largest vehicles into durable bags.

The group had been working with partners including Aura Brand Solutions to test the waste for upcyclability before it is processed and shipped for manufacture.

No Menzies-related branding remains visible on the bags and the first trial will look to divert 17 tonnes of waste from landfill, potentially saving over 30 tonnes of CO2.

Material such as car seat belts and bicycle inner tubes have also been used in the construction of the bags.

The initiative follows Menzies’ move in December 2021 to become the UK’s first distribution business to specify fully recyclable vehicle branding for its final-mile vehicle fleet, helping to refine the logistics sector’s approach to modern livery.
