Meachers Global Logistics has signed a three year contract with chemical and plastics distributor Nexeo Solutions.
The deal will see Meachers arrange the sea freight of quantities of polypropylene granules from the US to the UK on behalf of Nexeo, from whence it will transport the cargo to its Nursling warehousing facility, then onwards to Hamble-le-Rice, Hampshire.
In order to accommodate the new operation, Meachers has upgraded its facilities at the Nursling warehouse and bought specialist equipment for handling the chemical, including a hopper used to load the bulk tanker with the polypropylene granules (pictured).
Gary Whittle, Meachers Global Logistics commercial director, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with Nexeo. Being situated near the Solent means we can provide fast collection and distribution, making the supply chain much more efficient for the end party.
“We have worked closely with the organisation in order to develop a solution to their specialist transport and shipping requirements, which has included investment in bespoke designed equipment.”
Steve Bright, commercial manager at Nexeo, added: “Meachers Global Logistics’ flexible approach and supply chain expertise were the key drivers behind our decision to award the contract.
"The company has a broad range of capabilities and we look forward to working together and continuing to grow the business relationship.”
