Six new Volvo FH 500 6x2 tractor units have been delivered to McGuinness Haulage in Preston as part of efforts to reduce fuel consumption.

Supplied by Thomas Hardie Commercials, the new trucks join the haulier’s 40-strong fleet, nine of which are now Volvos, as replacements for older models.

Anthony McGuinness, transport manager at McGuinness Haulage, said: “Reducing our company’s carbon footprint is a key component of our business plan, so we’re delighted to welcome these new Volvo FH with I-Save tractor units.

“Through the technology on board we can continue to push the envelope on fuel economy, helping boost our bottom line while lowering our overall emissions.”

Expected to cover 140,000 km a year, the new tractor units will predominantly work five days a week and typically be used on bulk animal feed and grain tipper work throughout the UK.
