Kuehne + Nagel has been awarded a four year contract with Waitrose to operate its new NDC in Milton Keynes.

The contract begins this month and will see it manage the 950,000ft² ambient NDC, soon to open at Milton Keynes’ Magna Park.

The operator has applied to the traffic commissioner for an O-licence authorisation of 100 vehicles and 180 trailers at the site.

As reported by Motortransport.co.uk last year all operations and the 350 staff at the existing 319,000ft² Celestia depot, also run by Kuehne + Nagel on behalf of the supermarket, will transfer over to the new site by October.

A spokeswoman for Kuehne + Nagel said: “As the site builds up to full operating capability, an additional 650 jobs will be created during 2016. We are very proud of the successful, long-term working relationship we have built with Waitrose and look forward to continued success.”
