James Kemball has acquired a six-acre site close to Felixstowe Port, which it said now made it the region’s largest off-dock container storage provider.
The company took on the site, which is less than a quarter of a mile from the port, from the previous occupier Genesee & Wyoming and said it was now operational, with additional services planned.
It increases James Kemball’s total off-dock storage capacity in Felixstowe to more than 7,500 TEU.
Andy Tattersall, operations and commercial director, said: “Expanding our facility in Felixstowe strengthens our position in the market and supports the evolving needs of our customers.
“It reinforces what makes James Kemball unique – our reputation for helping customers save on operational costs while delivering exceptional service levels.”
The company added that the expanded facility would support faster turnaround times and reduced operational costs, along with helping reduce quay rent and port-related charges for customers, and no depot VBS.
