Today's scheduled strike by drivers and warehouse staff working for Indesit UK is going ahead after last-minute talks on Wednesday between the white goods manufacturer and union Unite came to a close without resolution, the union told Motortransport.co.uk today.
The 24-hour strike by over 200 staff will commenced at 6am across 12 different Indesit UK sites.
A Unite spokesman confirmed yesterday that no further talks between the company and the union were currently scheduled.
Industrial action has been looming for well over a month after Unite's members voted overwhelmingly for it in a ballot held in late June and early July over two years of sub-inflation pay increases by the company.
The union is also planning to hold two further strikes – one lasting 48 hours from 6am on 27 August and one lasting 24 hours from 6am on 1 September.
Indesit UK has not provided any comment since Wednesday's talks came to an end.
