Hermes has won Poundland’s new home delivery contract, after the single-priced retailer said it planned to trial an online shopping system earlier this week.
The contract will see Hermes provide delivery of the more than 2,000 products available in the retailer’s online store over a 4-5 day delivery period.
While there is no minimum spend for customers wanting home delivery those spending less than £50 will have to pay a £4 fee, while those spending more than this will qualify for free delivery.
Hermes’ sales and marketing director Mark Pettit said: “By utilising our specialist knowledge and experience, we can supply industry-leading delivery solutions that provide exceptional value to any organisation. We look forward to helping Poundland succeed in this new online venture.”
Jim McCarthy, Poundland’s chief executive, added: “The online shopping market is a rapidly growing channel and one which could provide a significant potential opportunity for us.
“This trial is an important first step towards giving more customers access to our amazing value. We are delighted to team-up with Hermes to offer this exciting service.”
