Cheshire haulier 3D Trans has broken with tradition to add five new Scania R500 6x4 tractor units to its fleet.
The five trucks are the first Scanias the company has ever had and join a mixed fleet which includes 15 MAN and seven DAF trucks.
The new trucks are supplied by Asset Alliance Group on a three-year full-service contract hire deal.
3D Trans fleet is largely used to move containers to and from UK ports to customers across the country from the firm’s Widnes base.
Transport manager, Stuart Buckley-Mellor, said: “We’ve never had Scanias before, but we decided to add some to our fleet based on their reported performance and fuel efficiency. It’s proven to be the right decision for the vehicles we need.
“We’re very happy with them and so are our drivers. They can be covering up to 120,000 km per year. The new tractor units are robust and reliable, and we’ve seen a lot less downtime than with some of our other trucks.”
Buckley-Mellor said the Scanias are also offering other benefits. “On the road they present a strong image for 3D Trans. You attract better drivers with better vehicles that are fully specced up for their comfort. That is a massive asset to the company,” he added.
3D Trans has a longstanding relationship with Asset Alliance Group spanning more than six years.
The new Scanias join the company amid a rolling fleet renewal programme that saw the commercial vehicle specialist supply a number of assets last year to support steady growth for the business.
“I’ve worked with Asset Alliance Group for a long time now and it’s great to do business with its expert team. I can trust the sales team to deliver what they say they’ll deliver and they offer a range of manufacturer options to suit our needs – and always in a timely manner,” said Buckley-Mellor.
Richard Worthington, business development manager at Asset Alliance Group, said: “We’re delighted to continue growing our relationship with 3D Trans, ensuring we source the best vehicles that match all of its business needs.”
