Truck and trailer hire provider Grayrentals is rebranding to the moniker TIP, eight years after being acquired by TIP Group.

The Hull-based company has continued to operate under its own name for the last eight years following its acquisition. However, from today (31 August) Grayrentals will cease as a legal entity, with its business operating under the legal entity of TIP Trailer Services UK from tomorrow.

Since its acquisition the business has been increasingly integrated into the group and has experienced significant growth to become a major force in the truck contract hire sector, TIP said this week.

As well as Hull and Scunthorpe, TIP’s truck division now has branches located in Morley in Leeds and Lichfield to complement TIP’s other 30 locations across the UK & Ireland.

The powered element of the business continues to be commercially led by Jonny Clark while one of the original owners, Terry Moody, remains an integral part of the TIP management team.

The new TIP powered division offers a diverse range of trucks for hire from 7.5 tonne upwards, including rigids and tractor units from all leading manufacturers.

In addition, it also supplies alternative fuelled and electric vehicles, together with a wide range of specialised vehicles such as cement mixers.

In response to loyal customer demand TIP’s powered fleet has grown from almost 250 back in 2015 to more than 3,000 this year.

Mike Furnival, MD of TIP, commented: “Acquiring Grayrentals a few years ago helped us expand our service provision to our many loyal customers. Terry and the team in Hull have demonstrated fantastic expertise in their field with an unrivalled service delivery on trucks and trailers.

“The addition of the Eurotrail/Ryder teams drove tremendous growth in our powered business and now is the right time to offer all our trailer and truck services under one banner.”

“Whilst we are proud to offer our truck services under the TIP name, we have been careful to ensure that the expertise in trucks remains undiminished for customers and so there are no changes in terms of the product specialists and account managers who will offer those services,” he added.
