Gist has won one new contract and extended another with retailer Morrisons and flower supplier Dutch Flower Group respectively.
The operator has signed a new, annual primary distribution deal with Morrisons, delivering Indian and Oriental ready meals from producer Noon to Morrisons’ DCs around the country.
The operation will be based at Gist’s Spalding site, which it said is well-positioned in regards to Morrisons’ DC network.
Gist chief executive Martin Gwynn said: “Gist has experienced significant growth in its primary network and as a result we have expanded both our temperature-controlled fleet and the number of distribution sites to meet the needs of our expanding customer base. We are delighted to be working with Morrisons InMotion and their customers to provide reliable and efficient logistics solutions.”
The Dutch Flower contract follows almost 10 years of work with the company. The three-year extension will see Gist handle daily deliveries, including the customs clearance and management of fresh flowers from South and Central America, South Africa and East Asia.
Once collected from the airport, Gist will use the operation’s dedicated fleet of temperature-controlled, roller-bed vehicles to deliver the
flowers to Dutch Flower Group’s horticultural processing facilities in Holbeach and Hull.
Gwynn added: “Our long-term relationship with Dutch Flower Group has delivered excellent results, creating sustainable, greener air- and ocean-freight solutions. We are very pleased that this relationship continues to develop, reinforcing Gist’s position as a specialist in time- and temperature-sensitive logistics.”
It cam as DHL took on the transport and distribution contract for the former Morrisons local-store estate following its sale.
