Global Freight Solutions (GFS) processed more than 10 million parcels last year as the popularity of online shopping continued to grow.
The parcel and carrier management firm said it saw an increase in the volume it moved for its customers, which include online retailers and SMEs in the retail, financial, leisure and engineering sectors.
To cope with the increasing volumes it has doubled the size of its workforce at its Warrington consolidation hub to 22 staff and expects to recruit at its other sites as business grows. The Warrington site opened last year alongside a new head office in Horsham, West Sussex, and its first overseas site in Athens.
GFS commercial director Daniel Ennor said: “The continued growth in the volume of parcels generated by online shopping has been a significant element but is not the only factor. Both consumers and businesses are now demanding greater flexibility than ever before in terms of delivery and the support of specialists to manage parcels moved via a wide variety of different methods.”
