More than 125,000 HGVs crossed the Channel aboard GetLink’s Le Shuttle service in June, a 9% increase on the same period last year.
Le Shuttle Freight transported a total of 125,672 trucks, according to the former Groupe Eurotunnel.
It added that since the beginning of the year, 767,000 lorries have crossed the Channel aboard the shuttles, compared to 646,372 between January and June 2021.
GetLink recently announced its unaccompanied freight service had seen continuous growth since its launch last September and there had been a marked acceleration since March, with over 1,000 trailers carried.
Christian Dufermont, GetLink freight commercial director, said: “Our service is growing strongly because it answers the three principal challenges in the supply chain today: decarbonisation, lack of truck drivers and the sharp rise in the cost of fuel.”
