Kerry Logistics UK has signed a long-term agreement with UK lithium battery recycling specialist Cellcycle to provide battery supply chain solutions, supporting industries from electric vehicles (EVs) to energy storage systems.

The strategic collaboration aims to strengthen battery logistics, recycling, and engineering services across the UK and internationally.

Under the agreement, Cellcycle, alongside its sister division Cellstorage, will work closely with Kerry Logistics to explore opportunities across the battery supply chain—from global logistics and freight forwarding to distribution, maintenance, engineering fieldwork, and lifecycle management.

The partnership will leverage Kerry Logistics’ expertise in multimodal freight, warehousing, and customs brokerage to optimise the division’s end-to-end battery solutions.

Kerry Logistics UK is part of the Hong Kong headquartered Kerry Logistics Network, which employs over 18,000 staff across 60 countries and specialises in third party logistics, freight services, warehouse operations, and supply chain services. In the UK it has depots in Manchester, Dartford and West Drayton.

Kerry Logistics UK’s deal with Cellcycle comes in response to the rapid expansion of the EV market and renewable energy storage sector, and the rising demand for a secure, efficient, and compliant battery supply chain.

Under the arrangement, Cellcycle and Kerry Logistics will focus on overcoming logistical challenges, improving sustainability, and ensuring regulatory compliance for the handling, storage, and recycling of lithium batteries.

Announcing the agreement, Cellcycle said that by combining its expertise in battery compliance, handling, and recycling with Kerry Logistics’ international supply chain and freight forwarding capabilities, the partnership aims to create a comprehensive framework for businesses requiring specialist battery logistics and end-of-life solutions.

A key focus of the cooperation is sustainability and the circular economy. Cellcycle is pioneering bio-technological recycling processes to improve the recovery of valuable materials from lithium batteries.

Cellcycle said this strategy, alongside Kerry Logistics’ extensive distribution network and supply chain solutions, will reduce waste, extend battery lifecycles, and enhance supply chain efficiency.

Dave Tattersall, Cellcycle commercial director, said: “The future of battery logistics requires expertise, efficiency, and a commitment to sustainability.

“By joining forces with Kerry Logistics, we can provide a complete solution for businesses handling batteries—whether it’s storage, transport, compliance, or end-of-life management.”

Ian Dodsworth, Kerry Logistics financial director. added: “We are excited to collaborate with Cellcycle to strengthen the infrastructure supporting the growing battery market.

“Our logistics expertise, combined with Cellcycle’s deep industry knowledge, will provide businesses with innovative, reliable, and sustainable battery supply chain solutions.”
