Darcica Logistics in Bicester has put a DAF XB 18-tonne electric truck into service, for pallet deliveries across the country.
Designed and produced by Leyland Trucks, the DAF XB Electric is part of a limited ‘early adopter’ programme of just 10 vehicles, marking the final development phase before full-scale production commences later in the year.
Family-run and owned Darcica, also a Palletways member, said it was committed to reducing emissions, waste, water and energy and has already replaced its diesel vans with electric variants, introduced electric forklift trucks in its depots and added a fully electric 3.5-tonne truck for city centre deliveries.

The zero-emission truck has a 16-pallet body size and has a driving range of up to 300km.
Darcica owner, Anthony Tattersall said: “We’re excited to add the new DAF XB truck to our fleet, it’s fully branded and even has a Darcica registration number EV25 DAR, which will be easy to spot around Oxfordshire!
“We estimate the truck will save 10 tonnes CO2 a year and expands our service to urban and regional customers with sustainable deliveries.”
