Exeter Window Store switches half its fleet to electric

Supplied by Elliot Tratt, transport solution executive LCV and HGV at Sparks Commercial Services, the electric van will be used for local deliveries while the diesel can work on jobs that require longer distances.

The E-Tech Trafic is paired with a 52kWh battery to offer a range of up to 150 miles on a single charge. The e-motor delivers 120hp and 245Nm of torque. The electric van will be charged on site. Using a 7.4kW wallbox charger, the van can recharge overnight in eight hours. Charging at 11kW drops this time to 6 hours or at 22kW it takes an hour and a half. The E-Tech Trafic is capable of charging at DC speeds up to 50kW which would take one hour to replenish the battery from empty to 100%. 

For final mile deliveries, Exeter Window Store can now cut emissions and noise pollution, ideal for urban operation. Interior specification includes a wireless phone charger and an 8-inch infotainment display with phone mirroring functionality. The Red Edition trim adds upper front bumper, rear light corners and the lateral door rail painted as standard. Optional extras to improve safety include a reversing camera and parking sensors with front, rear and side radars. 

Otton said: “For short local trips, it’s absolutely spot-on. The range lasts us most of the week, and we just plug it in when it gets back to base. As a business, we’re always looking for ways to do things better for the environment and society. This electric van is just one of several changes we’re rolling out in the coming months.”
