Carlo Turner has been promoted to the new position of non-network and continent director at Europa Worldwide Group as part of the firm’s plans to reach new markets and expand its Belgium presence.
Turner, who has worked at Europa for 20 years currently manages a team of 47 staff, located in Belgium and the UK, operating across sales, customs and operations to forwarding and depot management.
The company plans to expand this team with the introduction of market managers in strategically important hub locations.
In his new role Turner will sit on the Europa board and report directly to MD Andrew Baxter.
His brief is to take forward the growing interests of the business in Belgium, with a specific initial focus on the groupage, part and full load road freight product offer.
Europa said Turner’s focus over the coming months will also be to “shine a strategic spotlight” on all areas of the business model – from sales to operations, accounts, workshop and warehouse – to determine how these can be further developed.
This will involve an evaluation of the company’s current forwarding offer to identify further opportunities for expansion and to determine how equipment can be optimised to develop Europa’s own continental fleet.
It added: “Having worked at Europa for 20 years in many of the roles he now oversees, Carlo has built up a wealth of experience that is second to none. He understands all areas of Europa’s business and has real insight into the challenges and opportunities being faced at the coalface within the logistics sector.”
Andrew Baxter welcomed Turner’s promotion. He said: “Carlo is a shining example of what we look for in our people. He is someone who shows commitment, a willingness to progress and who makes the most of the career opportunities on offer.
“His appointment as non-network and continent director marks an important milestone for the group.
“Carlo will spearhead our ambition to further develop more of our own transport architecture across Belgium as we position ourselves as the company of choice within the global logistics network.”
Turner added: “This is an incredible opportunity to strengthen our services for existing customers while shaping the growing client portfolio through an enhanced and more responsive structure.
“I’m thrilled to have been appointed to the role and am looking forward to helping the Group push forwards with its plans to create added value and smart logistics within the supply chain.
“There are many challenges facing the sector at present, but our approach is all about innovation. We want to tap into markets where there is room for us to grow and also to build our own inter-connectivity across the Belgium infrastructure.
“There are incredibly exciting times ahead, and I am looking forward to this next phase in Europa’s onward journey.”
