The sale of Tuffnells Parcels Express to Connect Group in November last year certainly doesn't look like it was a fire sale (if there was ever doubt).
Following an update from Connect Group recently that set out the contribution from Tuffnells and turnover growth in its most recent year, the operator famed for its Big Green Parcel Machine livery has now published full accounts for 2014.
And they're healthy. They reveal that the business was in rude health when sold to Connect late last year.
Tuffnells, which has just announced a new MD, saw pre-tax profit in the year ended 31 December 2014 climb 28% to £13.3m (2013: £10.4m), generating a pre-tax profit margin of 9%. Nothing to sniff at in the general market, let alone the express end.
Turnover, as previously stated, was £143.6m for the year (2013: £127.8m). Proof that this big green machine is motoring along nicely thanks.
