Essex-based Big G Logistics has gone bigger and better by boosting its fleet with a high specification Renault T480 High 6x2 tractor as its flagship vehicle.

The company, which operates a fleet of ten HGVs and five vans, said it selected the T480 High for its driver appeal, performance, and fuel economy, as well the level of service from the Renault Trucks dealer.

Supplied by Norfolk Truck and Van, the new T480 High joins a black 23-plate T High and a Renault Trucks Master RED Edition van as the most recent additions to the fleet.

Powered by Renault Trucks’ 13 litre engine, the truck has been highly specified for driver comfort and appeal, featuring a red interior finish, air suspension, luxury driver’s seat, leather steering wheel, “serenity” bunk, extra convertible bunk with ladder, and additional cab lighting.

The new vehicle has also been equipped with Brigade Direct Vision Standard (DVS) compliant safety kit and cameras to aid the driver’s indirect vision and protect vulnerable road users with the cameras all connected to the factory-fitted dashboard screen.

The truck boasts a dazzling array of additional light options including black stainless steel LightFix top bar, low bar and rear perimeter bars as well as Alcoa Durabrite aluminium wheels, black wheel trims, twin roof mounted air horns, fixed roof and side deflectors.

The KUDA side skirts are also matched to the cab paint colour and have been modified to accommodate the vehicle’s radar sensors.

To complete the truck’s good looks, it is finished in Silver Grey Metal Star paint with matching door handles, front wings, radiator grille, bumper corners, external sun visor, windscreen bay, door mirror shells and towing yoke cover.

Director George Denman said having a flagship vehicle with real driver appeal was at the heart of the company’s decision. He explained: ”I’ve got two brothers working for me who are lorry mad; they take such good care of their trucks they could wash the paint off.

”I like to look after my drivers with a high spec driving experience and one of the brothers has the 23-plate T High in black so I told the other brother that he could choose what he wanted too. He certainly did and the new vehicle really is the pride of our fleet.”

He also praised the “exceptional” service received from Norfolk Truck and Van. He added: ”Their dedication has earned my loyalty, and I wouldn’t consider buying from anyone else now.”

The new T480 High is working on the firm’s The Pallet Network (TPN) routes for blue chip companies and where fuel efficiency is key.

The vehicle is supplied with Optivision Map Based gear shift strategy for FUEL ECO that anticipates topography for fuel savings and ECO Cruise control with Optiroll, that works to further control fuel consumption. Additionally Big G Logistics has opted for a five-year subscription to Optifleet Check to track and boost the vehicle’s and driver’s performance and to reduce energy consumption.

Denman said: “Our fuel cost are around £25,000 a month any savings we can make in this area makes a big difference to the bottom line. We are finding the T480s to be more fuel-efficient, and together with Optifleet Check, are saving me at least £30 a night on fuel costs.”

“The truck really is an attention-grabber and is great publicity for our business. But it’s not just good looking - we find the reliability of Renault trucks is second to none; everything works. This, combined with the service from Norfolk Truck and Van, means I won’t buy from anyone else,” he concluded.
