Dawsonrentals has seen a surge in operator interest in Euro-6 during the past 12 months, with over 30% of its truck fleet now Euro-6.
The company will soon have over 1,400 Euro-6 trucks, either on order or already delivered, in its 4,000-strong rental fleet.
Its Euro-6 fleet consists of approximately 1,000 tractors and 400 rigids. The tractor fleet is largely made up of Mercedes-Benz Actros units, while the rigid fleet consists of Mercedes, Daf, MAN and Volvo models, ranging from 12- 26 tonnes.
Dawsonrentals MD John Fletcher said it plans to grow its fleet by around 5% in the coming months.
He said: “The pace of investment has been dictated by a surge of operator interest as very positive reliability, performance and fuel efficiency results have established themselves over the past 12 months.
“We envisage placing over £100m worth of orders overall during the year to maintain current capacity and boost the fleet in line with planned business growth. Looking further forward, if our best estimates prove correct, 2016 will see even stronger growth of the truck fleet.”
The company also has over 8,000 dry and refrigerated trailers on its contract hire and rental fleet, and Fletcher said new orders are to be made shortly.
Trucks stay on the rental fleet for up to two years before they are moved into its used sales operation, while trailers run for between five and seven years.
