Prologis has announced the arrival of Royal Mail's new Midland Super Hub at Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal (DIRFT).
Other new distribution centres at DIRFT include two sites for Warrens Group, which are now fully operational, with two new speculatively built sites - DC628 and DC327 - having recently reached completion.
The new builds all have a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating as well as EPC ‘A’ rating and being net zero in construction.
Another two sites, dubbed DC628 and DC327, also feature roof garden spaces. Second-tier windows above dock doors have also been installed to increase natural daylight and provide the option of adding a mezzanine floor. Both units are two of the first units to be all electric, with energy generated from solar PV array.
Prologis UK has also created a 130-bay lorry park at its DIRFT site providing HGV drivers with free, high quality facilities catering for overnight stays, constant security monitoring by DIRFT’s onsite team and police community support officers.
The site also offers logistics training at The Hub at DIRFT, a purpose-built training and recruitment facility that delivers job training and career development through the Prologis Warehousing and Logistics Training Programme (PWLTP).

DIRFT is our largest logistics property asset in the UK and second largest outside of the US, so to welcome Royal Mail’s Super Hub to the site’s portfolio is a fantastic addition.
"With a growing number of customers choosing to increase their operations at the site, DIRFT will continue to go from strength to strength.
“As a multi-faceted location, comprising three rail terminals, warehousing, a lorry park, Lilbourne Meadows nature reserve and a logistics training facility, Prologis UK’s sustained investment in the facility’s development is evident.”
