Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has launched the ABT eTransporter 6.1, its first fully-electric van in the UK. Developed in collaboration with premium partner ABT e-Line, the eTransporter offers a range of just 82 miles with a cargo space of 6.7 cu m and payload of 1,001kg with prices starting at £42,060.
The battery is fitted underneath the load area to avoid compromising the cargo area. It can be 80% recharged in just 45 minutes using a DC supply.
The ABT eTransporter 6.1 is powered by a 83kW electric motor and uses regenerative braking to recover energy lost when braking.
The Combined Charging System (CCS) socket on the eTransporter means it can be recharged with either Type 2 AC or DC supplies. The van can accept up to 50kW DC rapid charging or AC charging at up to 7.2kW to fully recharge the battery in five and a half hours.
It comes with a suite of driver assistance systems, including Front Assist with City Emergency Braking System, rear parking sensors and Crosswind Assist.
The eTransporter has been developed in association with VW’s German tuning partner ABT and will be followed by the eCaddy.
