Salford Van Hire’s (SVH) order of 35 new Ford Transits has finally materialised after world shortages of parts and components led to long delays in deliveries.
The order, worth more than £1.4m, was placed in June 2021 but global supply problems meant it has taken more than 12 months for the delivery to be fulfilled.
Alessandro Bacci, SVH MD, said: “Whilst understanding the difficulties manufacturers are facing due to component shortages and Covid staff absences, delays in deliveries of new vehicles have made life difficult for rental companies like ourselves.

“In fact, we have orders with other manufacturers placed in January last year which have still not been fulfilled.
“To that extent we would like to thank Ford and Chris Jones at Bristol Street Motors for their efforts in bringing these Transits to us in relatively reasonable time.”
The thirty five Transit 2022 00 Models have a stripped low floor chassis cab, dualseat pack with Truckcraft low floor Luton bodies, a GCM of 2393 kg and 1107kg payload.
