Honda of the UK Manufacturing (HUM) and Yusen Logistics have renewed their contract, extending a partnership that goes back to 2006.
In 2011 Yusen was appointed sole provider for HUM inbound collections, supporting the manufacture of the Civic, Jazz and CRV in Swindon. Previously it had been appointed in 2006 to convert its UK suppliers from delivered to ex-works (where the supplier makes the goods available at the premises and the buyer is responsible for loading).
Ian Veitch, Yusen MD, said: “We are absolutely delighted about this renewal and we look forward to working with HUM to continue developing this industry leading inbound solution into the future.”
Yusen manages a supply chain for HUM that runs 100-plus routes daily from 60 suppliers, averaging 9,500m3 of goods.
In October, the logistics firm renewed its contract with Nissan Motor Manufacturing (UK), a contract it has held since 2008, while in May it began work on a new contract with SMR Automotive Mirrors UK involving sub-assembly and delivery of door mirrors to Jaguar’s XK and F-Type assembly line.
