EV Cargo Group said it had delivered a resilient performance in 2025, with pre-tax profit returning to the black shortly before the disposal of its Solutions business to William Stobart.
Revenue reduced to £615m in the year ending 31 December 2025, from £720m the year before, which it put down to lower freight rates and softer market demand.
However, profit before tax increased to £1.5m compared to a loss of £810,000 in the prior year.
“Global logistics markets remained challenging throughout 2025,” the group said.
“Freight markets continued to normalise following the exceptional volatility experienced in recent years, with lower freight rates and softer customer demand observed across certain sectors.
“At the same time, geopolitical uncertainty and changes in global trade patterns continued to drive complexity within customer supply chains, increasing demand for specialist logistics expertise and end-to-end supply chain visibility.”
EV Cargo Group said its major focus last year was carrying out a strategic portfolio review and then taking the decision to sell off its transport and contract logistics division, EV Cargo Solutions and Distribution.
“The board concluded that the disposal of the Solutions business would enable the group to increase its strategic focus on international freight forwarding, integrated logistics and technology-enabled supply chain services while also improving capital allocation and balance sheet flexibility,” it said.
The division was acquired by William Stobart’s investment vehicle WS Holdco and the transaction was completed on 17 March.
The purchase saw the transfer of 750 employees, a fleet of around 200 vehicles, one million sq ft of warehousing, and annual revenues of £125m.
“The board believes the disposal creates a more focused organisation with greater alignment between its core capabilities, customer proposition and long-term growth strategy,” EV Cargo Group added.
