Fortec member North West Logistics is looking to expand its customer base and services after spending £6m on a new premises.
The new site at Altham Business Park in Accrington includes a 100,000ft² warehouse - which is five times the size of the firm’s previous warehouse facility - 20,000ft² of office space and a new 120,000ft² vehicle park which can accommodate 80 HGVs.
North West Logistics director Stephen Dunn said the new premises, which were financed by HSBC Bank and a Regional Grant Fund, will help secure the long-term future of the company.
He said: “We have several customers who require ongoing storage and distribution services, and the new site enables us to do this on a larger scale.
"The building has six modern loading dock entrances, capable of accommodating any height of vehicle, and two drive-through entrances directly into the building.
"It also allows us to introduce more services including pick and pack and other warehousing services in the future.”
North West Logistics, which is a Fortec member, specialises in warehousing and the transportation of both hazardous and non-hazardous loads. It has an O-licence for 70 vehicles and employs 60 drivers and warehouse personnel, and 20 office staff.
Dunn added: “In our previous premises we were bursting at the seams. Now this investment has helped us to future-proof the business. Our focus is on growth again, and as we have the space and flexibility to increase our range of services, we can now look at further investment and job opportunities, and of course expanding our customer base.”
Dunn said the new facility allows the company to offer a total logistics solution.
“We can store, re-pack, assemble, manage stock control and goods for customers and collect, deliver and distribute those goods across the UK and Europe,” he said.
